The future of a long-time Eastern Kentucky school superintendent is still up in the air.
After weeks of rumors and speculation, a Perry County School Board meeting provided few answers on Thursday.
The board chairman indicated some sort of decision about John Paul Amis will be made within days.
It was a full house at the Perry County School board meeting Thursday, as community members and board members anxiously awaited to hear what the future holds for Superintendent John Paul Amis.
There has been speculation about Amis’ future for weeks.
A meeting to consider terminating his contract earlier this month was cancelled with no reason given.
Amis was hired by the board in the 1990s.
Last year, he was named Superintendent of the year by the Kentucky School Board Association.
Board members went into an executive session before any open discussion of Amis' position.
They say the situation is not easy to handle.
Combs says he expects there to be a vote on Amis' position within one week.
