Future UPIKE President plans to make the university a Central Appalachain leader

The future president of the University of Pikeville says he plans to make the school a leader in Central Appalachia during the next six years.

James Hurley will assume his new role next year when current UPIKE President Paul Patton steps down to become chancellor.

Hurley told the Appalachian News Express that five steps must be taken in order to achieve his vision.

That includes implementing a surplus budget and strengthening the school's endowment.
