Future of No Child Left Behind Act in Kentucky to be discussed

We may get a better idea Tuesday of how the state plans to measure school performance in the coming years.

The Kentucky Board of Education will meet in Frankfort.

The state's request for a waiver from provisions of the federal No Child Left Behind Act is set to be discussed.

Kentucky's application for relief, which was posted on the state education department's website last month, says the state will use the ACT exam as a benchmark test for students.

There are also plans for a new testing system for grades three through 12.
