GOP wants expanded review of Beshear's fundraising

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - The Executive Branch Ethics Commission has been asked to do an expanded review of campaign fundraising
activities on behalf of Democratic Gov. Steve Beshear.
The Republican Party of Kentucky sent a renewed complaint to the
ethics panel on Monday, charging that another of Beshear's aides
has solicited contributions from state employees in violation of
state law.
GOP Chairman Steve Robertson alleged in the complaint that Jerry
Graves, a deputy commissioner in the Kentucky Finance and
Administration Cabinet, solicited contributions from state workers
on two separate occasions since December. Graves didn't immediately
return a telephone call seeking comment.
Beshear, who is seeking a second term in the Nov. 8 election,
has raised more than $5 million, far more than either of his
opponents, Republican David Williams and independent Gatewood
Galbraith.
