Kentucky's average price for a gallon of regular gas is up to $3.81.
Here in eastern Kentucky, many prices are closer to $4.00 a gallon.
Experts tell us Tropical Storm Isaac and the upcoming holiday weekend could be to blame for the sudden spike.
The total keeps climbing as the pumps run.

The sudden jump in gas prices is not stopping people from traveling.
Terry McCants is on his way back to Georgia after a road trip out West.
“Either you go or you don't! We knew it was going to be high but not this high,” McCants said.
“About $800 in fuel there and back,” McCants said.
This outdoorsman is heading to Florida for a hunting trip. He considered not going, after seeing how high gas was going to be.
“When you already paid for your trip, you gotta go or you lose your money,” McCants said.
As we head into the holiday weekend, most say no matter how high the prices go that's not going to stop them from hitting the road.
Triple A officials tell say that prices should drop next week.
