State Police are looking for help to find the man responsible for a gas station robbery Thursday night, one that hits close to home for some in the community.
The heist happened at the Double Kwik in Hazard around 10 p.m. Thursday. It's got police stumped.
"There's no leads as far as any names or possible suspects," said Jody Sims, with Kentucky State Police.
State Police said a man walked into the store, showed a gun, and forced the clerk to open the cash drawer. The gun went off in the store, but the clerk was not hurt.
The crook got away on foot, down Crawford Mountain Road.
"Probably by the time he got away, he wasn't wearing the same thing he had on in the store," said Sims.
For folks at other convenience stores, this hits close to home.
"The guy just came in and started talking to me - and asking me about what the register was," said Alex Rose.
Rose was held up at the Handy Dan's in Vicco a few weeks ago. He said he got out lucky.
"If I was going to get robbed again, that's the way I'd like it to go - no guns being pulled," said Rose.
State Police tell us surveillance cameras in the store were not working at the time.
The man got away with a couple hundred dollars in cash. If you saw anyone suspicious along Highway 15 or Crawford Mountain Road Thursday night, you are asked to call Kentucky State Police, Post 13 in Hazard at (606) 435-6069.
