Kentucky lawmakers will certainly have their hands full as we head in to the new year.
As the 2012 general assembly begins, the state budget will be one of the major issues addressed in this legislative session.
State Senator Brandon Smith says they will be forced to cut funding in key state programs, but the programs that will see these cuts is still undetermined.
“If there is going to be cuts they need to be shared equally across the board, no single group needs to be singled out and have to carry all that. We need to take care of those things important to people in Kentucky and make sure those things are funded,” Senator Smith said.
