Girl Scouts hold DVD drive for troops

Updated: Fri 10:40 AM, Mar 15, 2013

Three girl scouts at Hazard Middle School are collecting DVD's to send to troops overseas.

Eleni Karelis, Hannah Collet, and Autumn Cox hope to be awarded the bronze medal for their drive. The Bronze medal is the highest honor for Junior Girl Scouts.

They set up eight drop-boxes for DVD's throughout Hazard. One member of the group says their goal is to give troops something fun to do while overseas.

"They're over there and they're protecting our country. And they need something to do when they're not fighting," said Eleni Karelis, a sixth grader.

The group hopes to send the DVD's to military personnel from Kentucky.
