Golf scramble raises money for BSCTC

PRESTONSBURG, Ky. (WYMT) - More than 80 golfers were out at StoneCrest Golf Course on Thursday to support the Big Sandy Community and Technical College.

This year's golf event was named the William G. Duke Scholarship Scramble in honor of Mr. Duke, who helped start the event four years ago.

Money raised at the event goes to support the college's honors program.

President George Edwards says, "So many of our students are in need. We have very bright students here in Eastern Kentucky that want to go to college and they don't have the resources to do so many times, so it takes the support of the community."

Organizers say they expect to raise $25,000 through this year's golf scramble.
