Snow showers are expected on and off Monday through Tuesday. Total snowfall over the course of both days will add up between a trace to 2". 1" to 3" is possible along the higher elevations of the VA border. Slick spots are possible on untreated roads. A Kentucky golfer, fighting a big battle off the course, is bringing his struggle to his hometown.
Bruce Walters Junior, learned last year he had leukemia.
The Pikeville golfer says he's in remission now and doing better after several rounds of therapy.
“I'm in the initial stages of maintenance therapy and everything's going wonderful. Still a little tired some days but for the most part things are going wonderful,” Walters said.
Now, Walters is working with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society to organize "A Night in the Park"
It will be September 8th from six to eight in the Pikeville City Park.
There will be events for kids and information about blood cancers.
Tomorrow begins Blood Cancer Awareness Month.
Danny and Wendi VanHoose, Scrappy Barnes, along with Bruce and Kitty Walters will host the event.
