LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - Educators and government officials are meeting this week in Lexington to examine what is standing in the way of greater diversity in Kentucky.
Organizers say they are hoping the outcome of the Summit on Diversity and Inclusion will be the formation of a coalition or commission to develop a 10-year or longer plan of action to improve diversity. They also plan to have a summit every two years to address pressing issues, check on the status of the plans and look ahead to the next two years.
This year's summit is aimed at people involved in education and business.
The three-day event is being held at the Hyatt through Wednesday. Registration is $125 or $100 each for groups of five or more from the same institution.
