Grants totaling more than a half-million dollars going to improve KY parks

Gov. Steve Beshear recently announced the 18 Land and Water
Conservation Fund project grants. He says improving parks and
recreational facilities is good for tourism as well as local
residents, who also get to enjoy the projects.

The Department for Local Government will administer the funds,
which total $558,537.

The projects receiving funding range from $24,828 for
improvements to the Bert T. Combs Park and Governor RV Park in
Manchester to $60,000 for the Pennyrile Mountain Bike Skills
Training Area in Christian County to $13,834 for upgrades to Dawson
Springs City Park to $50,000 for the Lake Reba Handicap Accessible
Playground in Richmond.
