GILBERT, W.Va. (AP) - Gilbert officials are working to extend public water service to 450 households in the Horsepen, Browning Fork and Gilbert Creek areas.
Residents in the affected areas currently rely on wells, springs and cisterns for drinking water.
Gilbert Mayor Vivian Livingood tells the Williamson Daily News (http://bit.ly/RhnQCO ) that other areas have expressed interest in joining the project. But she says service can only be extended as far as funding will allow.
Ground has been broken for two projects that will cost a total $7.3 million. The town received federal and state loans and grants to pay for the projects.
