LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Independent gubernatorial candidate
Gatewood Galbraith is portraying himself as a clear alternative to
the incumbent governor and the Republican nominee in next month's
Speaking to a large gathering of county officials, Galbraith
said Thursday that re-electing Democrat Steve Beshear would be like
renewing the contract of a last-place baseball manager.
Galbraith bluntly said that Republican candidate David Williams
has no chance of winning.
Galbraith said it's time voters reject failed policies that
result in job losses, cronyism and poor health care for many
Kentuckians. He promoted his proposal to give a laptop computer to
every eighth-grader in the state and to give all high school
graduates a $5,000 voucher to further their education.
Beshear spoke to the same group Wednesday and Williams is
scheduled to appear later Thursday morning.
