Hazard Community and Technical College has a new president.

Kentucky Community and Technical College System President Michael McCall named Dr. Stephen Greiner to the post Thursday.

Greiner was in Hazard on Monday morning, at a town-hall forum for the remaining candidates for the job.

"One of the things that I find here is that the people are phenomenal. They are incredibly courteous, friendly," said Greiner.

"It takes a special type of person at each one of our institutions, but especially here at Hazard, who understands the visions, the goals, and the values of this area of Kentucky," said McCall.

Greiner currently works as president of Brunswick Community College in North Carolina. He will begin at HCTC in January.
