Harlan County could leave Cumberland Valley Health District

HARLAN, Ky.(WYMT)- The Harlan County Board of Health is exploring the idea splitting off from the Cumberland Valley Health District.

The Harlan Daily reports Judge-Executive Joe Grieshop made a motion Thursday to withdraw from the district. The Cumberland Valley Health district is struggling financially, Interim Director Lynette Renner says the problem is with managed care organizations not paying. Bell County left the district last year and agreed to help Harlan County if they choose to leave.
