Flooding is a major concern today across Eastern Kentucky as rivers continue to rise after the heavy rain and snow melt of the last few days. Now as the rain has transitioned to sleet and snow roads will become treacherous and ice covered. Flood Warnings and Winter Storm Warnings remain in effect for most of the day. A Harlan County native has been named the 2012 Kentucky History Teacher of the Year.
Ron Adkisson teaches eighth graders at South Oldham Middle School.
Adkisson began his career at Oil Springs Elementary in Paintsville.
He will now be in the running for National History Teacher of the Year this fall.
