Harlan County wins first game on new field

HARLAN, Ky. (WYMT) - The eyes of eastern Kentucky were on Harlan County tonight as they faced off against Bell County in their new stadium.

As the cheering fans quickly filled the stands at the new Coal Miner’s Memorial Stadium it became clear that this game would be one for the memory books

Many folks say they never thought they’d see the day when a state of the art stadium was built in their small town

Almost all of the stadium’s 6,000 seats were filled with loyal fans cheering on as the Harlan County Black Bears faced off against rival Bell County

Many say the new stadium serves as a sign of hope for the students, the school and the community

The new stadium serves as the hub, the heart and the new home for the thousands of loyal Black Bear fans in Harlan County.

Harlan County won 40-34.
