HARLAN, Ky. (WYMT) - The Harlan Independent School District Superintendent is retiring.
David Johnson is stepping down when his contract expires in June.
However, he will continue to work in education. Johnson told us he will be an Executive Director at the Southeast/South Central Educational Cooperative.
Johnson has worked in the Harlan Independent School District for 30 years and spent 17 years as Superintendent.
"I appreciate the opportunity the community has given me over the years to be able to serve here and hopefully we've done a job here that's benefited our children in the community," Johnson said.
Johnson told the School Board he is retiring. The Board is beginning the process to search for a new superintendent.
