A deadly train accidently in the Verda community of Harlan county claims the life of one woman and leave another one seriously injured.
It happened right outside the Harlan County Detention Center.
Police say the two people laying on the railroad tracks did not respond to CSX horn blasts and the engineer was unable to stop before hitting them.
Carolyn S. Parker of Ages, Kentucky was killed on impact. Curtis R. Pace of Evarts, Kentucky was seriously hurt and was flown to Holston valley.
Derrick Moore of the Harlan County Detention Center was one of the first responders. He says the images he shot with his video camera will stay with him forever. "There is a general respect for life and that seems to kick in in situations like these. You can't really plan for something this terrible."
Police say alcohol could be a factor and they are awaiting toxicology reports.
