Hazard Band of Gold wins big in state band competition

The Hazard Band of Gold does it again!

They were the only high school marching band in the WYMT coverage area to make the final four in any class at the state championships Saturday at Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green.

The band placed fourth in Class A.

This is the 16th time Hazard has advanced to finals since 1987 under director Pauletta Smith.

Band members got to ride a fire truck through town when they returned Sunday night.
