If you've taken a stroll down Main Street in Hazard lately you may have noticed something a bit strange.
“A few days ago I was sitting here over in this park and there's this woman who came over and had her camera; she got on her hands and knees and starting taking pictures and looked at me and said have you noticed this little door over here,” says Tim Napier, Perry County resident.
Miniature doors about the size of a postcard have been randomly appearing outside several Hazard businesses, each with its own unique design.
“About a month ago our little doorway to Hollon and Collins appeared, and we've had some questions about it,” says Kristin Collins, an attorney at The Law Firm of Hollon and Collins.
And as more and more appear, folks in the area have been asking questions too, particularly since the designer has yet to come forward. This fact has left the imagination to drive the discussion.
“They might be little trolls. I tried to knock on them and they don't open and nobody answered,” says 9-year-old Damian Stacy.
So far the architect of these doors remains a mystery; however, one person said they believe they spotted the individual one day.
“It was a gray-haired bearded man. He had a camouflage coat and a camouflage hat like a veteran would wear in Vietnam, and he was just painting away,” says Lisa Gayheart.
So will the artist come forward? Only time will tell. In the meantime, most folks just say they are having fun trying to figure out this miniature mystery.
Some people told us they know the person behind the doors, but that he or she did not want to be named.
