Head of volunteer department is facing drug charges

A Letcher County volunteer fire department is waiting to learn the fate of the head of their department.

The Mountain Eagle is reporting 73-year-old Buddy Sexton was arrested last week for drug trafficking.

He is with the Sandlick Volunteer Fire Department.

The Letcher County Sheriff's Department found around three ounces of cocaine, five HydroCodone and Xanax tablets, nearly $2,000 in cash and a 38-caliber handgun in sexton's truck.

Police say the cocaine was in a vacuum-sealed bag hidden in a cigarette carton, and is valued around $8,400 hundred dollars.

Sexton was arrested, but was released on a 10,000 cash bond about 50 minutes later.
