Health Department removed from district

Officials in Bell County have voted to remove the health department from the Cumberland Valley Health District.

The Harlan Daily reports that the reasoning is because of Medicaid and Medicare cuts at the state level and financial hardships.

A study done by Ken Frazier revealed that the department would be able to retain the level of service if they left the district.

Judge-Executive Albey Brock says that now the health department controls its own destiny.
