WHITLEY CO. (WKYT) - Heavy snow is causing a headache for drivers across southern Kentucky, especially around Whitley county.

According to the Whitley Co. Police Department, snow falling in Williamsburg has caused several wrecks, in and around the city. As of just after 2:00 pm, Interstate 75 southbound was shut down around the 4 mile marker due to an accident. Police say they're unsure how far traffic is backed up, but add on their Facebook page that "Highway 25 south of Williamsburg is also slick and the site of some wrecks."

"If you're going to be out," writes WPD, "try to leave early and reduce your speeds."

As of 2:00 pm, Corbin dispatch officers say only a little snow was falling in the area.

With freezing temperatures likely Thursday night, black ice will continue to be a problem through the overnight hours.

We have also confirmed through the Bell County Road Department that at least one bus had trouble getting children home after school.
