High school coaching legend dies

A Kentucky high school coaching legend is gone.

Ed Miracle died in Richmond.

He played football in Middlesboro and is best known for his success as a coach at Lynch, where his Golden Bulldogs were state finalists eight times and they won the class-a title four times between 1959 and 1968.

We talked to Miracle in 2010 when the 1960 team was honored.

“We had a bunch of young men that loved to play football. It was an honor to coach those guys. They were winners,” Miracle said in a 2010 interview.

The funeral for Miracle will be held Monday afternoon in Richmond.

He was 83.
