From a basketball player to an accused drug dealer.

One Prestonsburg High School Senior is now facing some serious charges.

Police busted 18-year-old Warren Blackburn for allegedly selling drugs right next to Prestonsburg High School.

Senior Warren Blackburn is known for his role on the basketball court. But, police say he had other after-school activities.

Prestonsburg Police say they received several tips Blackburn was dealing pot in the Hardee's parking lot next to school grounds. Police say the K-9 unit found narcotics.

“A bag that contained several smaller baggies of marijuana that were packaged to sell. After being advised of his Miranda Rights, he advised us he was selling to other students from the parking lot in his vehicle after school,” Detective Trint Combs said.

Blackburn is charged with trafficking marijuana within 1,000 yards of a school.

Police say Blackburn is the only student charged at this time, but they are still investigating.

Police say Blackburn was making 100 to 125 dollars each day.

“We think he was beginning to start quite the enterprise little business selling these high school kids,” Detective Combs said.

Floyd County Superintendent Henry Webb said he could not comment because the arrest did not happen on school property, but he said the school system is conducting its own investigation and disciplinary action is possible.

Webb says Blackburn is no longer on the basketball team.

Jail officials say Blackburn is out on bond.

He is due in court on February 2nd.
