The rain will transition over to snow as we head into mid to late morning across the area. We will see the chances for light accumulation in the valley areas with 1-3" possible on the ridge tops above 2000 feet. Slick spots are possible on untreated roads. While significant snow is not expected, we have issued a Severe Weather Alert Day to keep you informed on possible negative impacts to travel through Tuesday afternoon.
A former state representative was honored today as a piece of highway was named for him.
Herbie Deskins served House District 94 for 23 years, and now Highway 1384 from Cedar Creek in Pikeville to the Floyd County line will be known as "State Rep. Herbie Deskins Highway."
"During the 2012 regular session of the Kentucky General Assembly, in recognition of the foresight, compassion, loyalty, dedication, and wisdom that enabled this respected gentleman to represent the needs and concerns of his constituents in Legislation District 94," said State Representative Leslie Combs.
Deskins was a member of the house of representatives from 1975 to 1998.
