Highway dedicated to fallen officer

Family and friends of a sheriff's deputy killed in the line of duty came together for a highway dedication.

A section of highway 1-19 in Bell County will now be named after the late Sean Pursifull.

More than two years ago, Pursifull along with his k-9, "King" were killed during a chase.

It's a sign ...that brought tears to eyes and left some family members speechless.

Emotions are still raw from the loss of man that paid the ultimate price.

"He would have been proud... really proud," said Deana Pursifull.

In 2008, Pursifull died during a chase.

A judge sentenced David Poppiti to a combined 25 years for wanton murder and fleeing or evading police. Police say Poppiti rammed into Pursifull's cruiser.

The section of highway named in his honor is four miles long and covers where the wreck happened.

While nothing can replace the fallen officer, officials just hope this sign will be a reminder of what he gave.
