FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - The Kentucky Historical Society contributed to Steven Spielberg's new film about Abraham Lincoln.

A pocket watch that once belonged to Lincoln and is now in the historical society's collection in Frankfort is featured in the film.

The move opens nationwide this Friday.

The Historical Society says it was contacted in May by Ben Burtt, an Academy Award-winning sound designer working on the film.

The sound team wanted to incorporate as many historically accurate sounds as possible that Lincoln heard in his lifetime. That includes the ticking of his pocket watch.

An examination determined the watch is in perfect mechanical working order. So this summer, a sound technician visited Frankfort to record the ticking of the pocket watch at the Thomas D. Clark Center for Kentucky History.
