This hot holiday weekend is not stopping folks from celebrating the Fourth of July outdoors.
Many boaters say the lake at Jenny Wiley is a perfect place to spend a holiday weekend.
"We tie boats up together and just generally have a great time," said boater Gary White.
White and his family have visited the park every summer for more than 30 years.
His daughter has cerebral palsy and says the lake means so much to her.
"This is her favorite place in the world, and the lake is just a wonderful place for her," says White about his daughter, Jennifer.
Shepherd has tips for boaters, such as having life-jackets and plenty of water to stay hydrated.
"Be courtesy to anybody you meet on the water. Awareness is number one when it comes to water safety," says Shepherd.
However, not everyone is in the water. Hannah Edmonds is camping and scavenger hunting this weekend with her family.
"A pine cone, a little pine cone, a piece of bark, and a smooth rock," said Hannah.
And some are just looking for a spot in the shade for a family picnic.
"I like the fact that you can see the water and quite a bit out in the distance and see other things that are going on," said Bryan Iddings, a visitor at Jenny Wiley State Park from Indiana.
He says it's a beautiful view all around the park.
