What do you get when you mix talented musicians with a beautiful day on the water and a mission to clean up floating garbage? The answer was on display in Floyd county Friday.

“I just think this is a great thing to be happening in eastern Kentucky because this is a really needed cause,” said Holly Vival Thompson.

That great thing Holly's talking about is an initiative called 'Take Back Our Lakes, Rivers and Streams!' organized by PCG Nashvillle.

“It's about taking ownership of these resources, especially as a generational thing for the youth of this area so they can have clean waterways and recreational areas to use,” said Chuck Moore.

And so on that behalf, Holly, along with some other folks from the show, got to work on the shores of Dewey Lake. As an eastern Kentucky native, Holly says the work that is happening here is personal.

“It's just a shame that you come out here and this is what you see. It’s just a beautiful area and we should take pride in that,” she said.

The day concluded with food and performances by the singers. Organizers say they are considering doing more programs like this in the future.
