Home burns to the ground

Updated: Fri 7:01 PM, Nov 11, 2011

One family is without a home in the Airport Gardens community of Perry County.

A fire engulfed their home while they were out of town.

No one was hurt in the blaze.

However, Linda Rattlin and her family are now without a home.

It happened last night around seven o'clock when the family was away in Lexington.

A family member who lives close by called Linda's father saying the house was on fire.

All the neighborhood could do was watch as the house burned to the ground.

"We were standing about right here watching it burn. Yeah, it was very upsetting. I mean my whole entire childhood I lived in this house," said Kathy Sherman, who grew up in the home.

The family returned to Hazard today.

Linda's father says he is thankful they were not in the home but hates that they are coming home to nothing.

Nearby neighbors say the house burned fast.

The cause of the fire is still unknown.
