Home invasions increasing in Laurel County

Home is a place where most people feel safe, but some folks in Laurel County aren't sharing that sentiment.

Within the past few days there have been two home invasions.

The most recent happening Tuesday morning near Highway 472.

A man who policy identify as Bobby Green allegedly attempted to break into Sherry Castle's home around 4 a.m. on Tuesday.

Police say home invasions have increased in recent years and many folks are beginning to take precautions.

When Sherry Castle saw the man coming into her window, she fired her gun as a warning shot.

Police say its becoming more and more common for victims of home invasions to defend themselves using firearms.

Neighbors of Castle say having protection is of the utmost importance when living in a rural area.

Neither the victim nor perpetrator were hurt during Tuesday's home invasion.
