Homes will be relocated

Some people in Pike County who lost homes due to flooding in the past two years will be relocated.

Judge-Executive Wayne T. Rutherford says FEMA has awarded a two and a half million dollar grant to Kentucky to buy and demolish properties destroyed in the 2009 flood.

Officials say the money will go towards 26 properties in the flood plain in coon creek.

The properties purchased will then remain empty with nothing else built there.

The names of the 26 homeowners affected is not released yet.

Officials just say the cost to repair them was greater than the value.
