Some of the nation's most well known politicians came to the Bluegrass Friday night. They all paid tribute to Henry Clay, as this year marks the 200th anniversary of him becoming speaker of the U.S. house.

Current House Speaker John Boehner, and former speaker Nancy Pelosi were among those in attendance for the event at Transylvania University.

"Henry Clay has been a role model for me," explains Boehner. "I can't tell you how pleased I am to be here."

Former speaker Nancy Pelosi shared her feelings as well. "It says statesman leader. Where is he looking? Is he looking at Kentucky? Are his eyes drawn there because, he certainly drew the eyes of America to Kentucky. The West, the beauty of the land and the spirit of the people."

Other leaders like Governor Beshear, former house speaker Dennis Hastert and Congressman Ben Chandler were also present at the ceremony.
