Hospital alerts police to stabbing victim in Letcher County

LETCHER COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - On January 16, 2013, Kentucky State Police in Hazard received a call from the Whitesburg Appalachian Regional Hospital stating they were treating an individual in their facility for assault.

According to police, Tina Wells, age 33 of Pine Creek in Letcher County, had been stabbed several times at her home. Wells was initially treated at the Whitesburg ARH and then transferred to University of Kentucky Medical Center.

During the course of their investigation, police ended up arresting her boyfriend, 28-year old Robert Hamilton, also of Letcher County. Hamilton is lodged in the Letcher County Jail and charged with assault 1st degree domestic violence and other charges related to a bench warrant.

The investigation is continuing by Kentucky State Police.
