As they reach 40 years of service, Manchester Memorial Hospital is celebrating by breaking ground on a new building.

Government officials and community members turned out for the ceremony. Hospital administrators say they are starting with their most critical needs first, which is why the building will house a new lab and radiology department.

"We are moving our radiology so it's all in one area. That will help our patients as far as finding where they need to go for radiology services," said Erika Skula, Hospital CFO/COO.

The project is expected to cost more than $7 million dollars.

Construction on the new building will begin this fall and is expected to be completed in late 2012.
