Thursday night's slick roads did not keep one crook in Whitesburg from trying to find a way to get some quick cash.
It's a busy time of year at the Super 8 Hotel in Whitesburg.
"We're usually over 75 percent occupancy," said Josh Adams, the hotel's General Manager.
But Friday things were finally back to normal.
"I'm not sure that we've ever been robbed to be honest," said Adams.
A man walked into the hotel before eleven Thursday night. He pulled a knife on the clerk and asked for cash.
Hotel Manager Josh Adams was in the building and ran downstairs.
"I came down to the desk to call the police myself," said Adams.
The man ran out the door on foot with cash from the drawer.
Whitesburg Police believe the man tried to hit up a convenience store on Highway 15 earlier in the night, but he got spooked.
"We don't see this type of activity here especially in our small town," said Tyrone Fields, Assistant Chief of Whitesburg Police.
"The cash is one thing but that my desk clerk got out of here safely - that's really most important, that nobody got hurt," said Adams.
Most important now is finding this crook, a person police said has been in trouble with the law before.
"We're expecting an arrest to be made within the next 24 to 48 hours," said Fields.
Police said there were witnesses in the parking lot as the man left the scene and that helped them pinpoint their suspect. We will update you when an arrest is made in this case.
