Earlier this month we showed you a crime caught on tape at the north Corbin Comfort Suites. As it turns out, London’s nearby Hampton Inn had almost the exact same thing happen..several days before.
“He came in through from the pool area…he was not a guest,” said manager Jason Handy of the crime at the London Hampton Inn, just off Exit 41.
The blond haired man of medium height and build was able to get to the Corbin hotel’s money when the front desk clerk had stepped away. But at the London hotel..the crime happened a bit differently.
“He kind of mentioned he wanted a refreshment before he went to bed,” said Handy.
Only Handy doesn’t think the thief was guest.
“My front desk clerk says he was just super nice, super friendly,” he says.
After agreeing to fix the man a cup of coffee, she leaves..then he slips behind the desk, opens the drawer, and steals the cash.
“Within 15 seconds he ran around the desk, slipped his hand in the drawer and took off,” he said.
Police in London and Laurel County say they don’t know if it is the same guy stealing from both hotels, but they say it’s very possible.
A side by side frame of both suspects does show a similar looking person. And it’s a crime that has the London hotel making changes..in how they handle people in the early morning hours.
“We’re definitely locking everything, asking a few more questions, before we leave the desk there,” says Handy.
And hoping and that you will recognize the guy..and help police put an end to a hotel bandit.
