FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - The House has approved a proposal that
would make student achievement an indicator of how well teachers
are performing their jobs.
Democratic state Rep. Carl Rollins II of Midway, chairman of the
Education Committee, is sponsoring the measure that now goes to the Senate for consideration.
The measure passed the House without opposition or discussion on
Friday. It calls for the Kentucky Department of Education to
develop the proposed evaluations and have them ready to use in
Rollins said the measure would "promote continuous professional
growth of our teachers so that they can become better."
The legislation is House Bill 40.
