Housing Development Alliance finishes 178th home

Updated: Wed 7:05 PM, Dec 19, 2012

HAZARD, Ky (WYMT) - A Perry County family is moving into their new home just in time for Christmas.

The Housing Development Alliance just completed their 178th home providing affordable housing for low income families.

As Adam and Alyssa Campbell walk into their new home, all they can think about is their daughter.

"The number one reason that we did this was for our 15 month old daughter, so she can be able to run and play," said Adam Campbell.

After moving several times and living in a cramped apartment, the Campbell family now has a place to call their own.

But none of this would be possible without assistance from the Housing development alliance and the volunteers that helped build this home in late October.

"Adam and Alyssa worked so hard on the house, and they were here when it was raining and snowing, and the community volunteers were here. Just to see the house and the pink room next door for this girl. It's just really exciting," said Scott McReynolds, Executive Director of the Housing Development Alliance.

The Housing Development Alliance is located in Hazard.
