Police are investigating after they found a burned truck at an abandoned mine site with human remains inside.
The bodies were found on Mullins Branch Road in the Topmost community of Knott County.
"It's heart breaking to know that somebody would do this. I couldn't imagine being their mothers. I couldn't there's no way." said neighbor, Kendra Caudill.
The vehicle and bodies were both taken to the State Medical Examiner's Office in Frankfort for positive identification.
"Oh very bad, very bad, it's one of the worst situations I've seen as far as the conditions of the bodies to be missing and then been found like this," said Jeff Blair, Knott County Coroner.
Kentucky State Police in Hazard are continuing to investigate.
