Hundreds of new jobs on their way to southern Kentucky

CORBIN, Ky. Hundreds of new jobs are coming to southern Kentucky.

A week long job fair for the Serco company at the Corbin Center is wrapping up tonight, but there is still time for folks to apply.

The contracting company branch is opening soon in London, bringing hundreds of jobs with it.

"We're very excited about it," said Serco Director of Human Operations Tammy Johnson, "We feel like the tri-county area is an excellent area for hiring the type of employees we're looking for. "

Friday was the last day for for the Corbin job fair.

Some walked in as applicants...and walked out with new jobs.

Officials say they've been to job fairs all over the county, but the willingness of applicants in Corbin has been unique.

"The candidness that people have had, and the joy of getting a new job has just been outstanding," Johnson said, "and people have been very receptive. They've been excited."

Folks say the process was a breeze.

"The application was quick and easy and straightforward," said Nicole Lee, who attended the Serco job fair, "you kind of handed in your resume they guided you through the rest of it."
