MASON COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - Friday night hundreds of people gathered to pay their respects to a state police trooper killed in a crash.

The visitation was held for 25-year-old Trooper Anson "Blake" Tribby in his hometown of Maysville.

He died Tuesday night in a crash on I-64 in Clark County.

It was a night of remembrance for those who knew Trooper Tribby. For four hours, hundreds of people walked through the doors of Maysville Community and Technical College to say their goodbyes.

What made him special was different for everyone who knew him.

"I think he was just a kind of special person," said Mike Vice, Tribby's cousin.

"We used to rabbit hunt together, and he graduated with my son from high school at Mason County High School, and he was a real nice kid," said Glenn Riggs, a friend of Tribby's who traveled from Georgia.

Trooper Tribby's friends and family say he was just one of those people everyone knew and loved.

That's why it isn't a surprise that hundreds and hundreds showed up to pay their respects even all the way from Georgia.

"We left at nine o'clock, and it was 62 degrees there and when we got in Kentucky it was 20 degrees. It was a big shock, but I wouldn't miss this for nothing," said Riggs.

His kindness and dedication to his job as a state trooper are only two things about him that people will miss.

Simply having him around is what most say they'll miss the more than anything.

"He had his whole life in front of him, and it's sad. He was a nice kid and a nice fellow," said Riggs.

Trooper Tribby's funeral will also be at Maysville Community and Technical college tomorrow at two p.m.
