I-75 lane closure could cause backups

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky (WYMT) - If you plan on driving on Interstate 75 anytime soon, you might notice a few lane closures.

Both the north and southbound sides have one lane closed at mile 27 along the Whitley and Laurel County line.

During a regular bridge inspection, cracks were found on one support beam on each bridge.

The Department of Highways has closed the lane of travel that is supported by the cracked beams.

"We know it's aggravating for folks to have to deal with this, but we would hope that folks keep in mind that it is only for their safety," said Jonathan Dobson with the Kentucky Department of Highways.

Dobson says it could take four to six weeks before the problem is fixed.
