Rounds of heavy rain will begin to move into the area later tonight, leading to the increased potential for flooding. A Flood Watch is in effect for the entire area from now through Thursday and a Winter Storm Warning goes into effect tomorrow. As we head into Wednesday, temperatures will drop and transition our rain to sleet and eventually to snow. Most of the area could see several inches of snow and sleet before it's all said and done. Interstate 75 south near the Kentucky-Tennessee border will be closed again Sunday night.
Officials say the one southbound lane now open will be temporarily closed at 8pm Sunday so crews can prepare for a traffic shift that will allow both northbound lanes to open.
That's expected to happen by 8am Monday, weather permitting.
Southbound drivers will be diverted off the interstate Sunday night at exit 160 in Jellico.
Crews have been working to repair damage caused by a landslide in March.
