HAZARD, Ky. (WYMT) - The IRS has filed a tax lien on one Eastern Kentucky jail.
The lien shows Kentucky River Regional Jail in Hazard owes more than $380,000.
Administrator Tim Kilburn said he was notified of some possible violations last week.
"At that time, we notified our accountant of the situation," Kilburn said. "She in turn called the IRS and gave them the deposit amounts and the payroll amounts. And the IRS agent informed her this had been taken care of."
Kilburn thinks a mistake was made by the IRS and the lien will go away once the proper numbers are processed.
The jail has been under scrutiny since two guards were charged with beating an inmate to death last month.
