SOMERSET, Ky. (WKYT) - Candido’s tow truck drivers received call after call Friday morning…most of them to pull cars out of ditches.
“We’ve turned down about 150 calls because of ice. Been a really bad morning,” said Candido driver Skip Branscum.
In fact dispatchers were telling drivers to expect a more than two hour wait for police to respond to the accidents. There were problems all over the county.
“It’s dangerous. You never know who is going to slide into you. We’re just sitting there and our wrecker slid into a ditch,” said Branscum.
Brandon Eubanks’ minivan slid off Oak Hill Rd. and he thought he was safe until another car slid into him. Damage was severe enough to require a tow truck.
“There’s quite a bit, now that I see my tires are going in two different directions and the front quarter (panel) is pretty damaged,” he said.
That accident happened about 7:45 and it was after noon before the scene was cleared.
Police say there were only minor injuries in several of the accidents.
