The project to build a new indoor theater for Jenny Wiley Theatre is moving forward.

Friday morning, Pikeville City Commissioners and other board members hired Codell Construction to build the 300 seat facility.

It will be built in downtown off Hambley Boulevard.

Officials are now looking at design plans.

“For our area, I think this is a once in a lifetime opportunity and what it will mean for the school system, the college, the entire community is just unbelievable,” Barry Chaney said.

Right now, officials are compiling ideas of how they want the theater to look.
